Hosting the Albany County Fair is a large portion of what we do around here at the Fairgrounds. For 10 days in August the entire property turns into a complete zoo; literally. We have all sorts of animals, both 2 legged and 4, that travel from near and far to compete in the ultimate youth contests of the county. Fair week, as dubbed by the many families that participate, is a crazy fun filled time of making memories, learning life-long lessons and enjoying the company of friends and family. The 4-H and FFA youth that compete in the many youth contests prepare for this event all year long. They spend countless hours learning and practicing for this one event. Don’t get us wrong there are lots of tears, heartache and failures at fair; but that is all a part of life. We invite the community to join us by participating in any of our Open Class competitions too. You could enter your famous canned peaches or momma’s secret brownies or maybe showoff your outstanding quilting skills. Whatever fits your fancy come join in the fun, share your skills and check out what the Albany County youth are capable of, they will knock your socks off.
